Description
A New Play By Jonathan Spector · Directed by Jon TracyThe board of City Repertory Theater Company launches a search for a new Artistic Director. But Helen, the Managing Director has a better idea: convince Maya, the former Associate Artistic Director, to return. Maya refuses - who would want to go back to such a problematic theater? Then, with great ambitions, Maya agrees to return and see if she can finally bring about real change in the organization.
Playwright Jonathan Spector interviewed dozens of theater makers across the country. His new work describes a fictitious theater company, and delves into the very real systemic challenges of our non-profit theater model. Part comedy, part drama, and all sparked by discussions with people sharing their experiences behind the stage curtain. The performance is just the beginning - let's keep the conversation going!
“Spector proves as much a master of pathos as of comedy."
- The Guardian
RUNTIME: 2 hours & 30 minutes including one brief intermission
