Description

It happened four years ago. At Black Lake. Cleo and Eddie stayed. Johnny and Else left. Now, 1,460 days later, they meet again. They meet the first time. At Black Lake.

Eddie and Cleo live in a house by the lake. After inheriting a brewery, they take out a loan to keep the business afloat. Bank Manager Johnny and his wife Elise become fast friends, while their children proceed to fall in love. Then something unimaginable happens. The children drown themselves in the lake. Four years later, the parents meet again at the house overlooking the water. They try to make a new start, but dark unanswered questions still hang in the air. Time stands still as two couples helplessly circle one another, searching for closure.

"Dea Loher is one of the most performed playwrights in the German language. Her theatre texts are about the neglected, the marginalized, the injured birds of paradise and all the enormities that can lie dormant in everyday life."
—Goethe Institute

With a career dating back to 1992, Loher's nearly 20 plays have been awarded virtually every major award in the German-speaking theater world, some multiple times, and have been translated into 28 different languages.
