William Shakespeare (baptized 26 April 1564 – 23 April 1616) was an English poet, playwright, and actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's greatest dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon" (or simply "the Bard"). His extant works, including collaborations, consist of some 39 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and and a few other verses, some of uncertain authorship. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.
Patrick Dooley, Director
Patrick started the Shotgun Players with a few friends in 1992 in the basement of the Northside La Val’s pizza parlor. The original aesthetic was driven by the desire to break the creative process down to the essential elements of strong writing, honest performances, and spartan stagecraft. Plus, they wanted to keep the tickets cheap so everyone in the play could also afford to see it on the minimum wage salaries they were all making.
