M.A.D Direction Fellowship
The direction fellowship is 80 hour production-specific commitment over 6-7 weeks. The purpose of this experience is to give the fellow a comprehensive look at the process of a director over the span of one production for a mid-sized, regional theatre company. The fellow will work an average of 12 hours per week through the rehearsal process, plus an additional 30 hours over the tech and preview process. The fellowship is primarily evening and weekend commitments; a weekly schedule will be worked out with the fellow, program coordinator and production director.
Responsibilities
- Attend a minimum of 3 rehearsals per week
- Be a critical eye and provide feedback and notes to director
- Manage production-related tasks as assigned by director
- Work with Shotgun staff to come up with audience engagement materials
- Compile dramaturgical resources
- Assist Stage Management team with production-related tasks
- Participate in production meetings
Prerequisites
- Some experience in direction for at least one production (either academic or non-academic)
- Proficiency with Google Suite (Sheets and Docs in particular)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently

Compensation
All fellowships will be paid Berkeley Minimum Wage ($15.59)
