What’s your creative origin story?

I used to be a performer for about 15 years of my life, and I had planned to pursue a career in theatre. Once I got to college, I took a class that required me to work in our school theater for a few hours a week. I was assigned to work with the lighting department, and I fell in love.

What made you want to be a M.A.D. fellow?

I’m incredibly excited to spend more time working on the design aspects of theatre lighting, as well as the more technical aspects. I’m thankful to have the opportunity to work with an accomplished lighting designer and to learn more about their process! I was also particularly interested in working with a theater like Shotgun Players that is so dedicated to creating an inclusive environment for their patrons and artists.

What is one thing people wouldn’t know just by looking at you?

I’m an aerialist! I have been training on aerial apparatuses for almost a year now, and I only love it more and more. Whenever I have time to myself, I’m probably planning my next visit to the aerial gym or practicing my headstands.
