THE ASHBY STAGE MURAL PROJECT
Since 2009 Shotgun Players has joyfully exploited the exterior walls of our theater to create a one-of-a-kind mural for each of our shows. We've worked with graphic artist R. Black, Youth Spirit Artworks, and Matthew Leibowitz to transform the corner of Ashby Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Way every time we load in a new performance.
The idea is that we make theater that makes a difference for our community. The murals certainly get people in the door, but they also add a little something special to our neighborhood.
Berkeleyside posted a video of the mural process - check it out here.
We are currently in the process of collecting an archive of these murals. If you have photographs of the mural (current or past), please feel free to send them our way. Images can be sent to melissa(at)shotgunplayers(dot)org.
Thanks for looking, and we hope to see you around here soon!
