Box Office Policies
We love you, but there is NO LATE SEATING at Shotgun Players. Performances begin promptly at the listed curtain time. This is a policy we must enforce without exceptions due to the design of our theater and for the safety of our actors and audience members.
For this reason, we highly recommend guests arrive at least 30 minutes prior to showtime.
COVID health & safety policies
We commit to doing everything we can to keep our audiences, artists, and staff as safe as possible.
We understand that, after over a year and a half of physical distancing, returning to indoor spaces will bring up questions and concerns. (Trust us: we’re right there with you.) With this in mind, please refer to our COVID-19 Protocols & Expectations page for our most up-to-date policies for in-person performances.
Picking Up Tickets
No need to print your tickets! We will have your name on list at will call the night of your scheduled performance. Simply arrive to the theater, say your last name, and we will hand you your ticket at that time.
For performance cancellations due to COVID-19 (coronavirus) we have relaxed our exchange policies. For the most up-to-date information, please click HERE .
To exchange your tickets, call or email the box office. You will not be able to reschedule your tickets through your Shotgun online account for security reasons.
Unable to make a performance and don't want to reschedule? Let your friend know to ask for the tickets under your name at will call, and they'll be all set!

Single Ticket Buyers
Tickets are non-refundable after purchase. There is a $7 ticket exchange fee for any reservation changes until 24 hours before the performance Within 24 hours of the performance, tickets are nontransferable and nonrefundable.
Subscribers may change their reservation with no additional fee up until 24 hours before the performance. Any changes within 24 hours of the performance may be accommodated for a $7 ticket exchange fee. Unclaimed subscription reservations are nonrefundable.
Tickets that have not been claimed at will call by the scheduled performance time are nonrefundable. Any unclaimed tickets are turned back as a donation. We're happy to issue you a tax-deductible receipt for the value of the tickets.
For sold out performances, we offer an in-person wait list on the day of the show, beginning in the lobby one hour before showtime.
To be on the wait list, you must come to the theater in person on the day of the show you wish to attend. Wait list spots cannot be reserved over the phone or for future performance dates.
Please note that the wait list is first come, first served and starts an hour before show time. When you arrive in the lobby, check in with the box office and they will take your information.
Please note, subscribers looking to utilize unused season subscription tickets have priority on the wait list.
At showtime we will be able to determine if there are seats available.
Being on the wait list does not guarantee you a ticket, BUT it does guarantee you a chance at a ticket for a sold out performance.

Restrooms at the Ashby Stage
The restrooms at the Ashby Stage are all-gender. Please note that we have restrooms on both to the left and the right of entrance. Each restroom has a slightly different configuration, so please be sure to check the signage on the doors to find the restroom that best suits your preferred facilities and desired level of privacy. Or, just ask our helpful front of house folks, and we're happy to point you in the right direction!
Re-Entry During a Performance
Please note that any guests that leave their seats (outside of intermission) will be asked to wait in the lobby until stage management provides an appropriate time when patrons can reenter the theater. We will do our best to reseat you as promptly as possible.
As always, if you anticipate that you will need to leave your seat during the performance, let our front of house staff know so that we can provide you with the best times to do so during the performance.
Groups at Shotgun
Shotgun is happy to offer a discount on tickets for groups of ten or more, space permitting! Simply contact the box office at email@example.com or 510.841.6500 ext. 303, and we will arrange everything. The more the merrier.
Children at the Theater
Out of respect for our actors, there are no babes in arms or small children allowed into the theater.
That being said, we love introducing young adults to theater, but please note that tickets are sold at the discretion of the parent. If you have a question about the content of a show, please feel free to contact the box office.
Gift certificates may be purchased through the box office over the phone or through our secure email. We will need to know the following information:
- Your name, credit card (number, expiration date, CVV code)
- The name and addressed/email of gift receiver
- If you would like to attach an optional message
Free parking is available across the street at the Ashby BART station after 3pm Monday through Friday, and all day on weekends when the flea market is not going on (dependent on weather).
