Shotgun Players' Box Office Policies


We love you, but there is NO LATE SEATING at Shotgun Players. Performances begin promptly at the listed curtain time. This is a policy we must enforce without exceptions, due to the design of our theatre and for the safety of our actors and audience members.

For this reason, we highly recommend guests arrive at least thirty minutes prior to showtime. 



NO need to print your tickets! We will have your name on list at Will Call the night of your scheduled performance. Simply arrive to the theater, say your last name, and we will hand you your ticket at that time.


To exchange your tickets, call or email the Box Office . You will not be able to reschedule your tickets through your Shotgun online account for security reasons. 

Unable to make a performance and don't want to reschedule? You may transfer your tickets to a friend. Simply let the Box Office know the friend's name in advance, and we'll happily give them your tickets.

Please also note our ticket exchange policies below:
Single ticket buyers:
Tickets are non-refundable after purcase. There is a $7 ticket exchange fee for any reservation changes up until 24 hours before the performance.  Within 24 hours of the performance, tickets are non-transferrable and non-refundable .

Subscribers may change their reservation with no additional fee up until 24 hours before the performance. Any changes within 24 hours of the performance may be accommodated for a $7 ticket exchange fee.  Unclaimed subscription reservations are   non-refundable .


Tickets that have not been claimed at Will Call by the scheduled performance time are non-refundable. Any unclaimed tickets are turned back as a donation. We're happy to issue you a tax-deductible receipt for the value of the tickets.


For sold out performances, we offer an in-person waitlist on the day of the show, beginning in the lobby one hour before showtime.

To be on the wait list, you must come to the theater in person on the day of the show you wish to attend. Waitlist spots cannot be reserved over the phone or for future performance dates.
Please note that the wait list is first-come, first-served and starts an hour before show time. When you arrive in the lobby, check in with the box office and they will take your information.

Please note, subscribers looking to utilize unused season subscription tickets have priority on the wait list.

Most important: wait list is CASH ONLY. There is an ATM across the street.

At showtime we will be able to determine if there are seats available.

Being on the waitlist does not guarantee you a ticket, BUT it does guarantee you a chance at a ticket for a sold out performance.


ADA SEATS: There are four ADA seats available for every Shotgun Players performance: seats A1, A2, A3, and A4. These seats are reserved for guests with hearing, sight, or mobility issues and their companions. 

WHEELCHAIRS & MOBILITY DEVICES: We highly recommend that you call the Box Office in advance if you are coming in a wheelchair so that we can best assist you in entering the theatre the day of your performance.

ADA ENTRANCE: The ADA entrance to Shotgun is on the side of the theatre, on Martin Luther King Blvd. When you arrive at the theatre, let the Front of House staff know you need to use the side entrance, and we'll be happy to assist.

ASSISTED LISTENING DEVICES: Unfortunately, Shotgun does not offer assisted listening devices at the Ashby Stage. Please call or email the Box Office if you have questions about what seats might work best for your needs. 

SERVICE ANIMALS: Shotgun welcomes service animals into the theatre with the appropriate paperwork. We also recommend calling the theatre in advance of your scheduled performance if you plan on bringing a service animal with you to the theatre.

MEDICAL NEEDS & SEATING: If you have a medical condition that makes it difficult for you to sit for long periods of time, please alert our Box Office before the performance, and we will provide recommendations on seating to accommodate your needs.


Please note that any guests that leave their seats (outside of intermission) will be asked to wait in the lobby until stage management provides an appropriate time when patrons can re-enter the theatre. We will do our best to re-seat you as promptly as possible.

As always, if you anticipate that you will need to leave your seat during the performance, let our Front of House staff know so that we can provide you with the best times to do so during the performance.


There is a $2 credit card processing fee per ticket. You can purchase tickets with cash an hour before the show- but that is based solely on availability.

Please note: The only way to place a reservation and secure an assigned seat is to pay in full with a credit card.


Shotgun is happy to offer a discount on tickets for groups of 10 or more, space permitting! Simply contact the Box Office at boxoffice@shotgunplayers.org or 510.841.6500 ext. 303, and we will arrange everything. The more the merrier.


Out of respect for our actors, there are no babes in arms or small children allowed into the theater.

That being said, we love introducing young adults to theater, but please note that tickets are sold at the discretion of the parent. If you have a question about the content of a show, please feel free to contact the box office.


Gift certificates may be purchased through the box office over the phone or through our secure email. We will need to know the following:

Your name, credit card (number, expiration date, CVV code)
The name and addressed/email of gift receiver
If you would like to attach an optional message


Free parking is available across the street at the Ashby BART Station after 3 PM Monday through Friday, and all day on weekends when the flea market is not going on (weather-dependent).
