It’s 1957 in Brooklyn, and Eddie Carbone has it all. A secure job as a longshoreman, his loyal wife Bea, and doting niece Catherine, who is nearly finished with school. When Eddie welcomes Bea’s immigrant cousins into their home, the idyllic family structure fractures. Arthur Miller’s tragedy explores hidden desires, social unrest, and the cost of revealing the truth.

The World of a Play
Get an insider’s perspective on what goes into creating a play: from the first read of a script, through design discussions, into the rehearsal room, and finally to full production. Shotgun Players’ Artistic Director Patrick Dooley and other collaborating artists lead this exploration through his own experience directing Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge.
The seminar includes five gatherings on Mondays from 10:30 AM to 12 PM (February 8 to March 22) and four other events, including the cast’s first read-through, a run of the show in our studios, and a technical rehearsal just before previews.
